History
Star Sales is a leading national distributor of
fasteners, power tools and construction supplies. Founded in 1922, by Harry
Star, it originated as a neighborhood hardware store in downtown Boston.
During this time, Star Sales put an emphasis on quality and service which
continues to be the forefront of our success.
In 1978, Harry’s son, George Star, acquired the
business and moved it to our current corporate headquarters, a 55,000 sq.
ft. facility in Woburn, Massachusetts. Located at the major highway
exchanges of Route 95 and Interstate 93, Star Sales location facilitates our
ability to continue to provide its neighborhood level of service to all of
New England and the regional northeast. This expansion allowed Star Sales to
increase its inventory lines in order to provide a broader selection of
drywall and power tool products to our customers.
During this period, George developed strong relations
with factories in the Far East and began importing drywall screws and
fasteners. Star Sales quickly became a dominant supplier in the East Coast
market.
George passed away in 1993 and ninety years after it’s
founding senior management continues to successfully grow the business on a
national level. Today, with additional branch locations in Baltimore and
Chicago, management has expanded on George Star’s original vision. The
average tenure of our core employees is nearly thirty years. We are indeed a
family and we treat our customers with the same regard.
